It has been a little too long since my last update.
The reason for this is that I’ve been dealing with extreme exhaustion that compounded into a serious health issue that forced me to hit pause. I journaled most of the experience.
Things are looking better now. So here I am starting again.
One of the good things to come from the time off is a deeper understanding of how I might better serve readers. And how I can do so consistently without falling back into bad work habits that caused the problem in the first place.
As a reminder of what this project is about and the different types of articles I write, here is a little refresher.
I write essay-type articles, updates on the book I’m working on, workshops, and of course my journal (example of that below).
The journal is the last thing I started just before I got sick but, I continued to write (but not publish) for a bit before I got very sick. Journaling covers thoughts and ideas that come up from reading, meditation practice, and life more generally.
This is something Thomas Merton did with his practice and I have enjoyed reading about his life very much, so I added this to my writing and I get a lot of enjoyment from the practice of contemplative journaling.
The post below is my personal contemplative journey—slightly edited for public consumption.
The point of a contemplative journey is to uncover personal and spiritual insights through writing. But the writing is only part of the process. You also must know how to uncover the insights and cleave the egoic mind from your experience in order to fully benefit. Radical honesty is the heart of the practice. So I have a workshop planned for those interested to learn how I go about meditation and journaling.
Anyways on to the journey…
